A popular Mexican food restaurant is bringing its brand of Mesquite-grilled chicken to Central Texas and it will be one of the only locations in the area.

Pollo Regio will be adding a new $1.1 million location to Kyle in the fall of 2024, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) filing. TDLR filings are subject to change without notice.

Construction on the new chicken restaurant is expected to start on March 6, 2024 and the build-out will roughly take six months, a likely completion date is listed as September 23, 2024, according to the TDLR filing. The scope of the work on the 3,900-square-foot store will include the new ground construction.

The chicken spot began in Monterrey, Mexico but expanded the brand to Texas in the early 2000s, according to the Pollo Regio website. Different kinds of meat can be ordered like pastor, barbacoa, steak, and carne asada. The Regio platter has your choice of meat, rice, charro beans, five corn tortillas, grilled onions, pico de Gallo, a grilled jalapeno, and two lime wedges, according to the menu. They even have churros for dessert.

Pollo Regio will be built at 21565 I-35, Frontage Road, Kyle, TX 78640. The closest location to the future Kyle spot is north in Austin on 6615 Berkman Drive, Austin, TX 78723.
